Mission:
The Platte Institute for Economic Research is a non-partisan research and education organization whose mission is to advance alternatives that foster limited government, personal responsibility and free enterprise for Nebraska.
Who We Are:
- Privately funded through contributions and private grants
- 501(c)(3), contributions are tax deductible
- Focused on economic growth and prosperity
The Platte Institute studies current public policy issues and develops proposals to increase economic opportunity while protecting individual rights of Nebraskans.
The Institute promotes those findings by publishing timely studies, briefing papers, and other educational material to assist policymakers, the media and the general public in gaining a better understanding of current and upcoming issues.
We Are Not:
- Funded by federal or state government sources
- A lobbying organization; our mission is research and education
- Pursuing issues other than those that impact economic prosperity in Nebraska
We Will Initially Focus On:
- Tax policy and spending
- Enhancing Nebraska's educational structure
- Evaluating ways to control health care spending
- Managing Nebraska's valuable water resources
