About Us

The Mission of the Platte Institute

The Platte Institute’s mission is to leverage its research to advance policy solutions that remove barriers to growth and opportunity in Nebraska.

Why We’re Here

Nebraska is a great place to live, work, and raise a family; however, the quality of life our citizens deserve is threatened each day by policies that create barriers to growth and opportunity, putting the Good Life out of reach for too many Nebraskans:

  • Too many of our people leave Nebraska for job opportunities in other states;

  • Too many seniors face retirement with worry rather than relief;

  • Too many families can’t access the educational opportunities they need to succeed;

  • Too many of our farmers, ranchers, and entrepreneurs are burdened by high taxes and regulation that stifle innovation and growth.

The Vision of the Platte Institute

The Platte Institute believes that government should not be a barrier to growth and opportunity in Nebraska. Our policies, which are grounded in the principles of individual liberty and free enterprise, will remove those barriers so that:

  • Nebraskans can keep more of what they earn;

  • It’s easier to start and grow a business in Nebraska;

  • All families can access the right educational opportunities;

  • Nebraska can retain and attract a talented workforce.
